In today blog sharing with you a very elegant inspiration from Guru granth sahib book which talks about donation called Dasvandh

Dasvandh or Dasaundh as I understand means a tenth part & refers to the practice among Sikh community of donating in the name of the Guru one-tenth of their earnings towards the common resources of the community. 

The theory of Dasvandh was mentioned i in Guru Nanak’s own gurbani in the line which states

One who works for what he eats & gives some of what he has O Nanak he knows the path.

The idea of sharing & offering thru food is symbolised by means of langar offering of free food to needy & poor .

Dasvandh implies giving one tenth of one's income (10%) is a normal practice of recognizing that every thing comes from God the giver to us.One tenth of our income should be given back to God, the giver.

This offering is termed as a seed. It is a seed of trust that has the effect of multiplying our income just as a seed sprouts and grows into more plants.It is a principle called Titheing.

Many other religious groups also practice this & prosper from the conducting this practice.

 The Sikh belief of charity or daan is not merely giving alms.’ It stands for it's noble service back to it's community.
