The Meeting

They were meeting after 20 years

Surprisingly there was no show of emotion.

just a peck on the nose

and some introductions.

Then they went their way.

Who would believe

that they were inseparable besties many years ago.

When one brought a variety rice for lunch

the other brought the side dish for it.

If one had fever the other also skipped school

to avoid loneliness the scenario begot

One was good at studies

while the other barely scraped through

One was outspoken

the other, you guessed, a close-lipped introvert

But both kept going together

encouraging and goading each other

From nursery till eight grade

they stayed together

not letting another join them

But when life made a new road open

in the form of a transfer for one friend's father

their friendship, it simply drifted away.
