Snail

I like the swirly pattern of his shell.

I like the way he always takes his time.

 I like the way he carries his hotel.

I like his shiny messages in slime.

 I like his perseverance on the wall.

I like to watch his body slowly climb.

Sometimes I worry he might slip and fall

. But no. He never does.

I'm always wrong.

He proves to me that mighty can be small.

He helps me see that each of us is strong.

With his on stalks, he opens up my eyes.

And I could stare at him all summer long.

Each tiny movement takes me by surprise.

I watch this snail and I believe in God.

He is a teacher: patient, humble, wise.

I do not care if people think I'm odd.

My hero is a tiny gastropod.
