New Tidings

I don’t know what new tidings tomorrow will bring

Will it be a surge of shearing pain?

An endless torrent of turbid tears?

A deeper sinking into the bog within?

A graver misfortune?

A stronger self-hatred?

A more profound dejection?

Or, an excessively abhorrent slow creeping death

Which for ages has long been coming?
