Mettle

They persecute me, 

But I don't react. 

They try to bully me, 

But I don't react. 

I don't have regrets 

Over my echelon. 

How can I complain 

To the omnipotent 

Who has given me 

This life? 

Yes, people mock at me, 

But I don't respond. 

Yes, the sarcastic comments 

Now make me 

A strong person, 

I do triumph over 

The nerves, 

The innocuous yet 

Silent passion 

Exhorts me to work hard. 

Keeping my mettle strong, 

I work for my dreams, 

I ameliorate my skills 

And one day, 

I will prove silently 

To the world 

That I am a fighter, 

I am a true conqueror 

And I am an achiever.
