Me
Me
Hours of struggle, and I hatched out of my egg.
Already an intruder.
Mom curiously stared at me for some time,
And then just pecked me lovingly - like nothing was wrong.
But I knew that I was not like her,
And I did not know where my true parents were.
I stared at the other eggs, much smaller than mine.
Already a murderer.
Just one push and they fell and cracked below.
Mom turned and stared, then flew away - like nothing was wrong.
But I knew that I was not like her,
And I did not know where my true parents were.
A few weeks grown up, ready to fly.
Already a wanderer.
I flew off, soaring, never to return.
Mom stared and flew away - like nothing had happened.
But I knew that I was not like her.
And I was out to find where my true parents were.
