A Big Girl

You are a big girl now cried the mind 

You are still a child at heart cried the heart

Is this really true, she thought

For she couldn't believe how she had grown

Did she miss her life as a child

Or, was it just life longing to grow

She wasn't sure but knew one thing

that going forward, her life will never change

for she hadn't expected changes before

She paced up and down 

with responsibilities in her head

and toys near her feet

What should she choose?

The mind of a big girl

or the heart of a child

She couldn't give up any

for she was still a child at heart

She just cried out loud

Am I really a big girl now?
