It is the time to pray to the ultimate power which guides us in a righteous way and helps us take us out from all the entrapments of negative emotions and negative actions that we are willing to give up. This is also the time where we get to dress up and twinning colors with each and every person who can follow the color pattern for all the 9 days. Well while talking about color for each day, we may start wondering which color is the color for the day? Let us sort it out here. Firstly, the colors for Navratri are yellow, green, gray, orange, white, red, royal blue, pink and purple for the 9 nights respectively. Now let us know the significance of these 9 colors associated with the particular form of Shakti for each day. Color for the first day is Yellow. First day of Navratri is dedicated to Mata Shailaputri - daughter of the mountains. She is the absolute form of Mother Nature and symbolizes strength. Yellow is the color of brightness, happiness, and cheer. It is a wonderful way to start off the nine-day celebration with the color yellow. Color for the second day is Green. Second day of Navratri is decicated to Mata Brahmacharini - the female seeking spiritual knowledge. In this form, Goddess Durga or Parvati goes to the verdant mountains to do penance. This is where her prospective consort, Lord Shiva is. She joins him here in asceticism. Hence, green color symbolizes growth, nature, and energy. Color for the third day is Grey. Third day of Navratri is dedicated to Mata Chandraghanta. She wears a gray-colored half-moon on her forehead. The gray color also symbolizes her mood, ever ready to fight to destroy the foes of her devotees. Color for the fourth day is Orange. Fourth day of Navratri is dedicated to Mata Kushmanda. The luminosity and brightness of this Devi, with her bewitching smile is the source of sun’s light and energy. Hence, the color orange symbolizes her happiness and energy. Color for the fifth day is White. Fifth day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Skandamata – mother of Skanda or Kartikeya, the war-god. The Devi holding her baby in her lap is a symbol of the purity of a mother’s love. It also symbolizes peace, purity, and prayer in devotees’ hearts when they worship her. Hence, the color white. Color for the Sixth day is Red. Sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to Mata Katyayani. She is a fierce form of Goddess Durga believed to be formed out of the anger of the Gods. Therefore, the color red is associated with her. Red also symbolizes action and vigor. Color for the Seventh day is Royal Blue. Seventh day of Navratri is dedicated to Mata Kaalaratri. She is a destructive form of the Goddess and is also called Kali. Her powerful energy is embodied in the color blue. Color for the Eight day is Pink. Eight day of Navratri is dedicated to Mata Mahagauri. She is the fulfiller of all desires. The color pink symbolizes hope and freshness of perspective. Color for the Nineth day is Purple. Nineth day of Navratri is dedicated to Mata Siddhidhatri. She is the giver of knowledge and helps you achieve your aspirations. Hence, the color purple represents ambition and power.
