I remember it was a rainy day. I was travelling back to my home from the office. I could see that there were food stalls next to the traffic signal. There were people enjoying roadside delicacies, a few waiting for their cabs. As it was raining and it was a particular peak time for people to start leaving for their home, I didn’t get any cab or auto. After trying hard to book an auto or a cab I finally decided to walk home. While walking back home I saw my friends sitting at a coffee place on the roadside. Even after having an umbrella with me, I got drenched so I decided to join my friends. The coffee place had a glass wall from where you can have a view of the outside. I saw a boy wearing a faded black shirt, a soiled lower. He was running barefoot on the road. Looking for a path where the people standing on the roadside stalls enjoying their food. Unaware of the boy’s presence, the people continued to talk among themselves. A few people became irritated with his presence and tried to chase him away from the place. I could see the hunger in the boy's eye. He was looking for a chance to get some food for himself and for his family. I could see them sitting under a blue polythene sheet shade. That was protecting the family from the rain.
