Akshay Tyagi, a Marketing and Communication professional is a postgraduate in Development Communication from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia. He has completed his graduation in Journalism and Mass Commuication from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. He also happens to be a Gold Medallist at both the graduation and post graduation. He has received Gold Medals from eminent personalities including Minister of Corporate Affairs; Sh. Arun Jaitley and Lt. Governor of Delhi Sh. Anil Baijal. He was also awarded MR. VSJMC title at the graduation for being the Best Student of the Batch during his graduation.
Akshay has always been active in Extra Curricular activities and won numerous awards in Debates, Declamation, Extempore, Recitation, Cartooning and more. He was emerged winner at numerous Zonal, Inter-Zonal level competitions and has tons of certificates and trophies on his name.
Soon after his school, he started working for social welfare and volunteered with organizations like Lakshay Child and Women Welfare Association, We for People, Azad Yuva Ekta Club, Rotary Club of Delhi Rhythm. With the support of Nehru Yuva Kendra, an autonomous body under Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports, Akshay in 2014 started his Grow Up Youth Club to work primarily in the South West Delhi to promote art and culture and boost social participation of youth.
Akshay has interned with media organizations including Dainik Jagran, Hindusthaan Samachar, India News, Sambandh PR. As part of his projects, he also made few short films, designed programs, did theatre, puppetry. He was also awarded Best Cinematographer award for short film ‘Vignette’ at Cinedrome Film Festival of Delhi University.
Akshay started working on sexual minorities back in 2017 as part of his college project which later it turned into his passion. He made a photobook ‘The Others’ on transgender and designed a program to provide support and care to gender variant people. He also has made radio products to create awareness about transgender. In 2018, Akshay conducted a research titled ‘Investigating the Impact of Exclusion and Discrimination on the health and rights of transgender in Delhi’ funded by United Nations AIDS.
Akshay believes that this pageant is not just about the beauty of a body but about the soul. Through this pageant we will enable our contestants to be the ambassadors of change in their respective states and bring the inclusion and pride to every individual beyond caste, creed, color, gender, sex and physical disabilities.
