What If Women Do Not Bleed??

Suhaani was a girl of 13 years of age. She belonged to a very conservative family. Moreover, she and her family were residing in a village. She was not aware of basic health. Not even of first aid, periods, and all. Might be because of the family environment or because these things were not included in her school syllabus, she didn't know anything about it. And the outcome of the lack of basic health knowledge was really harsh for her. She didn't know that something like periods does exist in this world. Her mother was not allowed to talk about such things with her. As they considered talking like this would spoil their daughter.

One day she was in school when her friend observed a red spot on her white salwar. Suhaani fainted there only out of stress. Everybody around her started bitching about her. Her family was informed. She was taken to the home. She cried a lot, she was scared that she is going to die and all that thoughts were scaring her. Her mother tried to console her but she couldn't stop crying. Her mother was really worried about her. At the same time, the men in her family were shamed because of her. They thought she had destroyed their family's name. They blamed her for it. She was already worried and scared and this thing, she couldn't take it anymore. She tried to explain to them that it's not her fault. But she couldn't explain and She herself claimed to be wrong. She tried to commit suicide but her mother stopped her from doing so. She was asking God why she is being tortured with these periods. She cried for the whole night. Her father, grandfather, and elder brother stopped talking to her, they didn't even want to see her in the house. But, slowly slowly, everything settled. Her father and other men started behaving normally with her, as they used to at some point in time. She was 19 now. Her father was trying to find a suitable groom for her.

One day, she suddenly started vomiting. Her mother called their vaid. He gave her medicines and went. After two to three days, the same thing happened. This time, it was a headache, constipation accompanying vomiting. Her mother really tried hard to convince her father to take her to the city for better treatment. But, he agreed only after futile tries for a week. They went to the city for proper examination. The doctor gave them the prescription for medicines and advised her to stay at the hospital for two to three days. Her health started deteriorating. She had to admit to the hospital for more than a month. After she got recovered, she was discharged. They came back to their village. But, after coming to the village, she observed that she didn't menstruate from last one month. She thought it was because of medicines. She kept it a secret. Now, two more months passed, she didn't get her periods. At this time, she told her mother about this. Her Mother got really scared and told his father. His father had a frown over his face. This time her Mother need not insist him to take her for a checkup. They left for the city the very next day. She had undergone various tests. After two days, they got the report. Reports told amenorrhea. Then the doctor explained to them that it was due to hormonal imbalance, and lack of proper treatment, bad sanitation that she couldn't bleed anymore.
