Lord Jagannath knows the ways how he likes to be worshiped, he decides his rituals, he is sometimes carried away or pulled by the devotees, his idols as he likes to be carried into the chariots, he likes to be punished by this way because, he feels if he could not be able to fulfill the desires of his devotees, his servants, then the devotees have the right to punish him the way they like, the pandas, pujharis have all right o punish him, during car festival they scold to the lords they accuse him badly, they express their anger, frustration what ever they like, they scold the three lords as the most greedy lords, the most unfortunate, unfaithful, fraud, most cursed gods who just give sorrows, miseries, misfortune to his devotees, the devotees, servants are there in puri, Jagannath's temple from a long time, their dynasty are in their service from hundred years, it is a curse for them, they suffer a lot for lord Jagannath, these are blaming, accusation scolding they can scold on that day to the lords, lords like to be worshiped on that day, so he never expects to be lifted by the devotees to the chariots, rather they like to be tortured, punished by the devotees the way of dragging them with rope to the chariots, these are rituals, stories behind such noble, divine universal, sanatana religion, Jagannath religion and Jagannath culture, odiyas worship their dearest most desired lords, with reverence more enthusiasm more thrilling, excitement to carry their beloved dear lords to the chariot by tying with rope, love and emotion, they like to embrace the gods in the chariot , they want to touch their feet begging so many excuses, they want to make their lords freed from all narrow sophisticated rituals, blind faith, egoism. the lords are not bound by religions, caste ,creed and languages, they are universal sanatana, they are bound by devotion, love and dedication.

Miracles and story of bhakta salabegh

lord Jagannath and his temple was attacked several times by the Muslim ruler Aurangzeb, the devotees suffered a tremendous mental torture, lived the life of hell for hundred years under a continuous fear, threat that Mughal emperor, dynasty will destroy the temple and will steal the beloved, desired lords of Odisha, yes the devotees suffered a lot. They hid the original idols for hundred years secretly in ‘Khurda’, lord’s great devotee ‘Jagannath Harichndan’ was successful in hiding the deities of lords. The royal dynasty of khurda deserve gratitude for such a adventurous work, any time their lifes were at risk in the service of dear lords. The great emperor Aurangzeb attacked Lord Jagannath temple which he considered the greatest glory, highest faith, dignity of Hindu lord, the greatest desired dham, Jagannath dham among four dhams of lord ‘Vishnu’ where he stays with full spiritual sanctity, holiest place of Hinduism, yes Yakub khan destroyed raiding the temple with his military force three times but was not successful to carry the deities of lords to Agra and Delhi his capital place at that time.

Lords plays miracles with his devotees, it is his wish when, where he goes with the passage of time ,we are the instruments in his hands, how he feels, moulds, guides, direct our lives, the vital energy, the existing supreme soul either in the form of sun, moon or lord Jagannath with his blue lotus in his navel. Lords attract us like a magnetic force to all his devotees living all over the world giving the urge to love him, is a complete surrender to the highest energy, supreme power who dominates over all hearts and minds, pervading over the universe his spiritualism, beyond our imagination but within our feel, sensation, spiritual consciousness.

He never discriminates among his devotees, is never attached with any one’s desires, or actions good or bad, he is not bound by earthly passion only he gives hungry urge for a spiritual passion in devotees hearts and minds to feel him. In the revival of history, we can believe such facts the cruel reality we know, he loves all Muslims, his great Muslim devotee is salbegh, to show dignity to his devotee, every year during car festival his chariots stays near salbegh house to get his offerings, thousands of Muslims carry his sacred rope of ‘Nandighosa chariot, taladwaja and debadalana’………..

Lords want his devotees to be bound with his love, a spiritual love an ocean of love never dries or ends. He himself becomes the devotee of his beloved, serves him, caring his emotions and thoughts as a mother, guide and philosopher. He fulfills the desires, ambitions of his devotees accepting his earthly passions and deepest love, the tribute, the devotees offer him, in whatever form a flower, water food or his feelings, emotion, love, he accepts it. He fills the minds of his devotees with pure spiritual love beyond all earthly passions though, he accepts the love in a humanly way. It is said, Lord Jagannath is just thirsty for his devotees love as Lord Krishna loved all gopas and gopies, examining, observing the intensity of his devotee’s patience, consistency in love and ultimate devotion as, he likes to see the ecstasy of his beloved love, the intensity of urge to have his blessings with utmost sincerity.

He makes his beloved crazy, who forgets everything abandoning all earthly desires. Lords love those devotees who, work for him in a service motive like service to man is service to god, the person who serves the society thinks for the development, upholds all social values, principles, moral values of the society doing it in various ways. The devotees can preach all religious idealisms, ethics, which go in favor of society and the changing society relating to various aspects not only is constricted to religious ground, other fields like, education, politics, women right and dignity too. As Lord Krishna saved the dignity of ‘Draupadi’ when Kauravas humiliated her in ‘kuru sabha’ but, the lord has always excused ‘Dhyurodhana’ extending friendly hands, sending invitations of negotiation with Pandavas for hundred times, at last, he fought ‘Mahabharata’ battle to protect religion.

Lord Jagannath has always tried to give dignity equal rights to his devotees' indiscriminating caste, creed and religious grounds. He gives desires, passion, love to his devotees and again he quenches that sensual or spiritual thirst. He is the most humanly god, is impressed, attracted by the love, devotion of his beloved, ‘debadasis’ used to dance in dance hall near the deities, even the same system is still followed in various temples. I extracted some stanzas depicting lord’s favourite enchanting love songs which the great poet Jaidev has written in ‘giti govind’ a great creation, which describes the romantic scenes, sublime beauty of ‘Radha krishna’ romance the inner significance lies in it. He wrote how Ratha surrendered her love to Krishna, picturising the love, romance scenes magnificently. Annuradha pudwal sang on this ground, lords face became black with the kajal of my eyes, his lips are red with the color of my red sindoor. So I cannot look at his face with shame.

Lords have loved his devotees ‘Dasia Bauri’ accepting his offerings when orthodox brahmins rejected his offering considering him as scheduled caste, Lord Jagannath sat on ‘Balaram Das’s chariot when brahmins denied him in touching the chariot, lords were bound by his devotee’s deepest love, abundant faith. The great devotee ‘Bandhu Mohanty’ went through several examinations being arrested as a thief in royal court was imprisoned but never gave up his faith from the lord, with unfathomable faith he prayed God, accepted whatever punishment lord gave him, at last he got his blessings, his desire was fulfilled. He was honored as the great devotee of lord, with the rest of his life he stayed with lords with dignity at the service of Lord Jagannath in Puri.

Lord Jagannath was tied with the love of his devotee ‘Salbegh’, a Muslim by birth, when he said, ‘Lord do not move your chariot stay there on your chariot until I reach there’, because he was on the way on his journey, could not be able to reach there on badadanda, grand road, puri, to visit lords' car festival. Salbegh was coming from Delhi to puri on walk, the chariot ‘Nandighosa’ could not move an inch from its place until his devotee reached there, the song has been written by salbegh, ‘mohajibajaen thiba nandighose rahi, jagabandhu he gosain’, the great singer Bhikari balla has also written beautiful songs on lords. Lord is known as ‘mahabahu, mahabhuja, mahabrahmam, mahadaru, sarbabyapi, sanatana, Sakara, nirakara, brahmarupam’. .Oh lord, ‘accept my deepest devotion for you make me your dust or a flower of your garlands make no difference to me I remain as your devotee forever’ . These are the stories ,legends relating to the past life of Lord Jagannath which gives sufficient proofs of lords sincere love, devotion for his devotees the never-ending bond attachment, spiritual or sensual between the lord and his devotees, who achieve the highest values of life, the supreme entity of lords, Lord Jagannath's existence is pervading all over the world embracing, enthralling with the divine spirit and love for his devotees ..,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

first scene

-------------------

[Mughals have attacked the Jagannath temple in nillasaila, srikhetra puri,]

the scene is described or picturized as such that, many devotees are running being scared of the armies who have entered in the temple through singhadwara, the main lion's gate. All the old priests are protesting the soldiers to enter inside the temple. they have been badly beaten trumped, grief stricken devotees are shouting and screaming in fear, they are just invoking the Lord Jagannath, who is their ideal beloved god.' 'save us, save us, Lord, save us Jagannath from the hands of your enemies and demon. protect us from the hands of devils, they are killing us, they are destroying our temple, our deities, they want to ruin and destroy all. oh god, save us from saitan hands where are u come! come to earth appear before us, fight against tyranny barbarism, oppression and bloodshed, killing.'

suddenly soldiers entered in more numbers they were riding horses, they destroyed the main gate, they destroyed al deities which were installed in the various small temples, then they entered in the main temple they broke a number of small deities ,idols of Hindu gods in various forms some, deities of Lord Vishnu and Lord Siva who were installed encarved on the wall also. they felt the victory, a triumph over Hinduism by destroying the mute, unmovable deities, so ridiculous is the concept or thought of the attackers, that they feel if they break the deities, they can perish the current culture and idealism of the Hindu religion which is totally a failure in their attack. one ignorance they commit in killing the philosophy or religious faith and culture of any religion. they are killing and destroying their own sentiment, idealism ,religion and culture this way such an barbaric ,cruel, brutal and inhuman attack it was by the Mughal army and emperor, who had come from Delhi to puri for the purpose of destroying the deities of Lord Jagannath, who for them was the symbol of Hindu religion. they wanted to steal the main deities of Lord Jagannath which were formed as darubrahmam, gods of wood specially made by the carpenters and artist who created the deities from sandalwood with a lot of difficulties, it took more than one month to create three lords with sudarshan chakra or disc. King Jagannath Harichandan installed the small deities in the ratna singhasana, in the diamond throne of the main temple. he could predict the attack of Mughals, Muslim king and soldiers as they had been attacking the temple two times before. so he planned cleverly, he shifted the idols very secretly consulting with his ministers so cunningly and cleverly, they discussed secretly with his ministers, one day night they shifted or stolen the deities from main temple mukhasala to a distant remote village near khurda. mughals could not find out the place, they even could not know the previous conspiracy of the King Ramachandra deva of kurda, royal family.

Second scene

Widows are sitting outside the main temple, mukha sala , ,women used to worship gods sitting outside the temple in the open space looking or concentrating on nilla sailla pataka, the flag of the temple, nilla chakkra flag which carries the symbol of salvation, salvation from all vices along with the sudarshan chakkra, the flag carries chakkra which kills all evil thoughts and vices of the world, the sanatana or universal god or religion which the Muslim rulers could not understand the reality, sanctity of the Jagannath religion and about Lord Jagannath himself who stand for all religions, unity and integrity, harmony in all. he was beyond all narrowness, blind faith and meanness.

now the soldiers were attracted towards the widow ladies who were looked so young, beautiful, innocent, frowning in fear. one woman looked so beautiful in her early young age of widow, she wore a white saree, the symbol of widow dress, looking so beautiful in her early widow age. she had not worn blouse open body with only white saree, no ornaments nothing, no symbol of Hindu married woman, but she was looked so beautiful, elegant, gorgeous look. open long hair, she was just escaping from the hands of the soldiers' cruel attack, who were chasing her to capture, somehow they could be able to capture her, there they raped many widow women who were worshipping Lord Jagannath. god could not save them from the hands of cruel armies. they were raped badly, soldiers unclothed the women they were running and screaming nude. King of Puri gajapati his soldiers could not be able to protest the soldiers of the Mughal emperor's Yakub Khan. Yakub Khan had sent his army to capture the devotees of Lord Jagannath along with the king until he surrenders his defeat. so the king was defeated badly, his soldiers were killed whoever protested the Mughal army, at last, the beautiful widow Brahmin woman surrendered her defeat in front of the army. the chief army commanded others to carry her into the army camp where they were staying. they carried her to the army camp in obeying the chief command. now the chief army proposed the widow to marry him so that he can take her to delhi. the widow refused first, she protested a lot that she was Hindu, widow, the widow cannot marry again. it is against the religion, she said,

Widow woman----oh lord, your highness and majesty, I am not supposed to marry again, I am only devoted to Lord Jagannath, I cannot remarry. it is against our religion.

muslim chief commander-- I want to give you justice, I am so impressed by your beauty, serenity and softness. You are so devoted to god, you are a pious woman. God has done cruelty injustice to you. your fate has done injustice to you, I want to marry one widow, the widow is not caused by her own misfortune, she can remarry again. I want to marry you abolishing the system of non-marriage of the widow, they cannot marry again. suddenly the brahmin widow cried loudly, she burst into tears, she said oh lord even if you leave me also no one would accept me now, my community would abandon me immediately because you and your army captured me. I stayed one night here with you so my family, my community would not accept me again. better I would like to journey with you towards your destiny towards your kingdom. the next day they left puri and went back to Delhi, the kingdom of Mughal empire riding by horse.

There Radhika stayed some days with army chief, then in accordance with Muslim rituals, they married so grandly in Delhi. Radhika never regretted being carried away forcibly with Muslim armies, rather she felt very comfortable and proud of being married with the army chief. She learned Urdu and Hindi nicely. she started living so nicely with her husband in Delhi. some songs were sung, some romantic scenes were shown before the final marriage was over. Radhika's beauty, her soberness, her religious sentiment for Lord Jagannath impressed the commander so much. he loved her so much with a lot of devotion and sincerity. he forgot to take revenge on Hindu religion, his sentiment, ideology all changed after he married to Radhika. radhika taught the Mughal army, the real essence of Jagannath religion, the significance of Sanatana, the universal religion. lord Jagannath stands for the unity and integrity, no discrimination he makes among caste, creed and religions, he is beyond all superstitions, meanness and narrowness while she was preaching the noble ideologies and philosophies of Lord Jagannath she carried her only son in her womb. the Muslim commander was overwhelmed with happiness getting such news of her wife's pregnancy. he said, 'Radhika today I am extremely happy that you are blessed with a child due to Jagannath's blessing, he is the carrier of our love, the messenger of God, unity of two empires, one harmony in between two religions, one symbol of integrity due to the mercy of Lord Jagannath only. the son was born, he was growing with the love of their parents. his early education was nourished by his mother Odiya Hindu brahmin who taught him all about Jagannath dharma, the Sanatana dharma. what is the significance of the jagannath religion. she was narrating him every day the stories of Lord Jagannath, the stories of dasia bauri, bandhu muhanty etc. the stries radhika narrated daily to her son salabegha like this.

 The incomplete Lord Jagannath

Once, ‘Maharshi Narad’ along with other great sages realized the truth that, Lord Vishnu was not staying in “Khirabdhi Sagar”. He was residing somewhere else. Through their meditation, they could find out the place where he was staying. He was residing in a dense forest ‘Kantillo’ in the form of an idol called ‘Nilamadhav’. At present, it is known as Nayagarh in Orissa.

They informed to the king of Orissa ‘Indradyumna’ to make subsequent arrangements to bring him to Puri. Lord Vishnu would stay in the ‘Nilasaila’ (blue) mountain which is now known as ‘Nilachal Dham’ a sacred place at the beach of ‘Bangop sagar’.

They requested the king to send his minister ‘Bidyapati’ to bring the idol ‘Nilamadhav’ to Puri where all the devotees of kaliyug would get the opportunity to worship Lord Vishnu. The hunter king ‘Biswabasu’ had hidden the idol in a secret place. He kept him in a cave. No one other than him had seen ‘Nilamadhav’.

King Indradyumna sent his minister ‘Bidyapati’ to that dense forest ‘Kantillo’ to bring the idol of ‘Nilamadhav’. Bidyapati obeyed the order of the king and promised that he would definitely bring the idol. He set out for his journey towards the forest. According to the prediction of ‘Maharshi Narad’, he was able to find ‘Biswabasu’, the hunter-king who had hidden the idol.

So Bidyapati played a conspiracy with the hunter-king. He lured the princess ‘Lalita’ to fall in love with him. He was successful in his plan. They got married and started living happily in the forest. But he could not forget his promise to ‘Indyadyumna’. So he insisted his father in law to show the idol to him. Biswabasu agreed but he blindfolded Bidyapati with a cloth and took him to the cave so that he would never know where it was hidden.

But Bidyapati had taken with him a lot of mustard seeds in his hand. He showed them on the way to the cave. After some days, the seeds grew into plants and Bidyapati followed the direction of the plants and could reach the secret cave. He stole the idol of ‘Nilamadhav’ and took it to Puri. But the story does not end here. Biswabasu cried a lot on seeing the idol missing. He came to Puri in search of ‘Nilamadhav’. At last Lord Vishnu consoled his devotees. He said to the king in his dream “I will be worshipped by you in kaliyug but not in this form, in the form of Lord Jagannath with my brother Balabhadhra and sister Subhadra. A big sandalwood tree will reach the seashore tomorrow morning. You get it and make our idols from it along with Sudarshan Chakra. The wood will carry a specific symbol. But from now I’ll not reside in ‘Nilamadhav’. My avatar as ‘Nilamadhav’ has come to an end now.”

In Kantillo the king built a temple of Lord Jagannath with the idol of ‘Nilamadhav’. The dream came true. A huge sandalwood was floating in the shore of Puri. King along with his men got the wood. The courtiers tried a lot to carry the wood but it would not budge. Once again the king prayed God. The Lord appeared before the king in his dream and said “Oh king! Not only your courtiers but also you have to carry me to your palace. Only then would I come”. So the king carried the wood to his palace. There he called many carpenters to carve the three idols. But no carpenter could carve the wood. Their sharpened axes broke on meeting the wood. Once more the king prayed to God in dilemma “Oh Lord! Tell me how your idols will be made.” Lord Jagannath explained the king “Human beings cannot make our idol. Only the celestial beings can make our idol. Lord Viswakarma will come in disguise of a carpenter and construct our idols. You need not worry anymore.”

After some days, a very weak old man came. He asked the king to allow him to make the idols of the Gods. The king and queen followed the advice of ‘Lord Jagannath’ and allowed him to make the idols. But the carpenter had a condition with the king. He said “Oh king! While I will be making the idols, no one should open the door and disturb me. No one should enter the room else I shall vanish.” The king agreed to his condition.

After 15 days, no one could hear anything from the room. The queen thought that, the carpenter might have died out of hunger and thirst. How can he survive a long time without food or water? So as soon as she opened the door, the carpenter vanished. She saw that the idols were incomplete. They did not have any hands or legs. This is the reason of incompleteness of the idols.

Another story depicts the Lord’s cunningness for his devotee. Once, ‘Kanchi King of Karnata’, came to visit ‘car festival’ with his princess. Princess laughed at seeing the sweeping ceremony of King ‘Purusottam dev’ of Puri, Orissa, during ‘car festival’. She refused the proposal of her marriage with ‘Puri king’. She ridiculed him as a sweeper. King could not tolerate such humiliation. He fought a war against the kingdom Kanchi. First time, he was defeated.

Lord Jagannath blessed the king Purusottam dev. He gave him assurance. The king started his journey to fight second war. Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra both riding on two horses ‘black and white’ were on the way to ‘Kanchi Vijay’. Near the Village ‘‘Manika Patnam’’, two Lords drank curd from the milk woman ‘Manika’. They gave her a gold ring and instructed her to collect money from the king. King saw the gold ring. He was assured that, Lords were leading his army. He gave four villages to ‘Manika’ milk woman. The name of the village was ‘Manikapatnam’Yes, the king won the battle. He arrested the Kanchi Princess. He brought her to Puri. King ordered his minister to give the princess’s hands to a suitable sweeper. At last the minister gave her hands to the king during ‘ratha yatra’ festival, when the king was sweeping the chariot. The minister said, ’King you are the suitable husband for the princess.

Funny story of Lords Once at the funniest story of Lord Jagannath is, the great devotee ‘Balaram Das’, a ‘scheduled caste’ was forbidden by the orthodox ‘brahmins’ or ‘priests’ to pull his chariot during rath yatra festival. Balaram Das went to Puri sea beach. There he made a small ‘rath or chariot’ of bamboo and sticks. He kept Lord Jagannath’s photo inside the chariot. he was pulling the ‘chariot’ shouting mantras ‘Jai Jagannath’’. There on ‘Bada danda’, at Lord, Puri Jagannath’, the chariot of lords could not move a step forward, though thousand of devotees were pulling the sacred rope of chariot. Lord was in ‘Balaram Das’s chariot. He was not leaving him.

King came to know the truth. He brought ‘Balaram Das’ with royal dignity. Then the chariot moved. These are the stories show, Lord’s love affection for his devotees.

Story of Bandhu Mohanty

Bandhu Mohanty was the great devotee of Lord Jagannath. He worshipped god day and night with devotion.

Now, Bandhu wanted to fulfill his earnest sole desire to go to Puri Dham to visit Lord Jagannath. He decided to settle there. So, Bandhu, along with his family set out for a divine journey. They walked and walked. It was a long journey. They were tired. At last, they reached Puri. They reached their destination. It was night, so, the main Lion gate was closed. Bandhu with his family was starving in hunger. They slept near the Lion gate because only in the morning they could visit the Lord.

In the late night, one priest or Brahmin came out of the Lion gate. He called out “Bandhu ……Bandhu …..Come, I have got Lord’s Prasad for you on this golden plate. You and your family members are hungry”. Bandhu was very happy. He thought Lord must have sent his Prasad for him.

They all ate Prasad. Bandhu could not return the gold plate to the Brahmin or priest. He was worried. Then he decided to return the plate in the morning.

In the morning all were searching for Lord’s gold plate. Stealing the Lord’s plate was an inexcusable offense. While Bandhu was returning the plate to the priest, he was charged as the thief. The king’s courtiers arrested him. They imprisoned him. No one believed him. Now, he had to give a final test between life and death. He thought the Lord would definitely save his life.

He was accused as a thief. Bandhu never regretted the punishment. His only desire was to see Lord Jagannath. He was happy to accept the punishment of death or prosecution also. Now Lord appeared in the king’s dream, he told the king to free his Bandhu from jail. Because he himself had given his plate to his devotee, his dearest friend in the disguise of a priest or Brahmin. So the king freed Bandhu. His courtiers brought him with royal dignity to the temple. Bandhu visited Lord Jagannath. He and his family, stayed there in the temple premises. He became his dearest worshipper. He spent the rest of his life there in the temple. His desire was fulfilled by God.

Story of Balram Das

Once, the devotee of Lord Jagannath Balram Das wanted to pull the chariots of three Lords during the car festival or ‘Rath Yatra’. But the orthodox Brahmins did not allow Balram Das to pull his chariots. So he was badly humiliated denied by the priests to touch the holy chariot.

At last, Balram Das was disappointed. He was extremely sad. He went to Puri beach. There, on the seashore, he made a chariot with bamboo sticks and sand. There he kept the photos of three lords. He tied the chariot with rope. Now he pulled the chariot happily. He was very happy. He chanted the Lord’s holy names, “Jai Jagannath Swamy”. He was pulling the chariot with devotion.

There on the grand road (bada danda) the chariot of the Lords and Goddess suddenly stopped because they were sitting in ‘Balram Das’s’ chariot. They were impressed by his love and devotion. The king and priest prayed to God. They were anxious. They requested the Gods to move the chariot. Why was the chariot not moving? They wanted to know the reason behind it.

Now the Lord explained the reason for his disappearance from the main chariots. It was because his devotee Balram Das was not allowed by the priests to pull the main chariot. So at that time, he was bound to sit in his devotee’s chariot.

Now the king and the priest together went to Puri beach to have the visit of Lord Jagannath. They brought Balram Das with royal dignity. Balram Das pulled the temple chariot, and then the chariot moved on the grand road. Thus ends the story of ‘Balram Das’, a great devotee of Lord Jagannath, who had tied the three Lords with his love and devotion

Salabegh used to visit Krishna temple in Delhi. He used to go Brindaban to have darshan or visit of Lord Krishna. He was not allowed by the temple devotees to see the deities of Lord Krishna. He used to sit outside the temple premises on a veranda. He could see Lord Krishna from a small hole of the temple's wall. He could remind the songs or Krishna bhajans doing by heart himself. He started writing Krishna bhajan also, Salabegh used to compose songs on Lord Jagannath which are excellent and adopted by all Odiyas. All great singers like Bhikari Bal, Raghunath pannigrahi who used to sing his songs.

The very popular and famous song on Lord Jagannath he had composed is 'Ahe nilla sailla praballa matta baranna mo arata nallini banaku kala dallana, ghora bane mrugunni ki padithilla kasanna, nakra pesi chakkra nasi udharilla apanna, gajaraja chhintakala thai ghora jallena ta dakau mahabahu sunni thilla karne apanna, kurusabhastalle sunni draupadira jannana koti bastra deii halle lajyya kala baranna, rabanna ra bhai bibhisanna gala saranna , saranna sambhalli taku lanke kalla rajana, kahe salabega hina jatire mun jabana sriranga chharanna talle pasuachhi saranna.'

The meaning of the story is Lord Jagannath used to save his devotees when the devotee worships him invoking his name during the time of his or her tragedy. when he falls in disaster or danger

the incidents are such as once one deer was attacked by one lion, she ran away she was drowning in fear and horror, she had no other way to call lords or god names, it is said lord saved her from the danger, similar is the story when king elephant fell in a pool of water from where he could not be rescued himself, he reminded the Lord's names, immediately lord saved him from such danger. these are the incidents of helpless, mute animals. lord Jagannath's devotees Bibhisanna, brother of Ravanna was saved by Lord Rama who surrendered him to the god, subsequently, he was declared as the king of Lanka. Draupadi was forced by Kauravas, kourava prince Dushasana tried to unclothe Draupadi in the royal court of the kingdom Hastinapura in front of all kings. she surrendered herself to Lord Krishna to save her dignity from being unclothed in front of all kings. lord saved her dignity providing her numerous clothes from his hands invisible when she called lord Krishna to save her.

so I am a small devotee, you just trampled my garden of lotus with your devotion. you are the emperor of Nillasalla, blue hills where you are residing near the sea beach of Bangop ocean, the sacred place is known as Puri Dham, srikhetra., nillachalla dham.' this is the essence or zist of the song which had been written by the great devotee Salabegh, at the end he had concluded his song as my mother is an Odia brahmin, my father is a Muslim, Mughal army, I am so small devotee of your lord, I surrender myself on your feet. This was his devotion, unfathomable faith in Lord Jagannath. After the death of his parents, salabegh decided to leave Delhi. His mother Radhika took the promise from Salabegh such as follows

Radhika--- 'dear son, my time is over. I am going to die soon. you give me one oath or promise that you would definitely go to Puri Dham carrying my desire with you. I cannot see him, my adored, my desired my dream gods lord Jagannath again in this life. Now very short span of life Jagannath has given me. I am helpless. I want my son Salabegha to visit Puri dham, at least my earnest desire can be fulfilled through your visit. I can see you from heaven getting the blessing of Lord Jagannath, he would accept you as his dearest devotee. He is the god of universal, the broadest, magnificent, the magnanimity of his divineness, the whole world knows. you will be the carrier or messenger of his devotion and religion both. God can fulfill his desire of sanatana mingling with all devotees and all religions during car festival. A car festival or rath yatra is the correct time to have his visit. you can pull his chariot. you can see lords with your heart contentment. you can hug the lords in his chariot. No one will protest you or no one will obstruct you to do so. He is your parents onwards, he is your protector, your all. you just go to his surrender, complete surrender and be his great devotee that all will remember your divine love, your attachment for god onwards.'

salabegh---' I promise you mother, definitely I will fulfill your desire. I have already surrendered me to his great devotion. This is my second birth, My life is for his service only. I promise you, I will stay unmarried whole life. I will dedicate myself to Lord Jagannath and in his service. Your dreams will be fulfilled. I am going to his shelter only. I will go to puri on the next Rath yatra. I will not return back to Delhi. I will stay over there the rest my life under his protection and on his service.'

After the promise was given by Salabegha, Radhika bai heaved her last breath. she died there. salabegha did the last rituals of the funeral, he cremated the body of Radhika according to Muslim religion as she was the widow of the muslim army..

The very popular and famous song on Lord Jagannath he had composed is ' Ahe nilla sailla praballa matta baranna mo arata nallini banaku kala dallana. ghor bane mrugunni ki padithilla kasanna, nakra pesi chakkra nasi udharilla apanna, gajaraja chhintakala thai ghora jallena ta dakau mahabahu sunni thilla karne apanna, kurusabhastalle sunni draupadira jannana koti bastra deii halle lajyya kala baranna, kahe salabega hina jatire mun jabana sriranga chharanna talle pasuachhi saranna.'

Now. he decided to come to ‘Puri dham’ to visit Lord Jagannath during car festival. Hence he was coming on foot from Delhi to Puri. He fell sick on the way when he was a few kilometers from Puri. He was shivering in fever. He could not walk more. He could not be able to reach at his destination on that auspicious day of ‘car festival or Rath Yatra’. So he cried and prayed to God “Lord you do not move your chariot until I reach Puri. I want to see you. Fulfill my earnest desire.” There on the grand road, the chariot could not move an inch. All the priests and king were worried. They prayed God. God appeared before king and said “My devotee Salbegh is suffering from fever. Go and bring him. Only then I shall move. I have promised him. My chariot cannot move until he reached here. He is a Muslim. Your priests cannot allow him to enter my temple. So he wanted to see me during car festival”,

Then the king with his courtiers went to that place where Salbegh was lying. Salbegh was brought with royal dignity. Salbegh visited Lord Jagannath, and then the chariot moved. So every year the chariot of Lord Jagannath halts near Salbegh’s house. He takes Prasad from his devotee’s hands. Then the chariot moves forward towards Gundicha house. This was the story of Salbegh who was a great devotee of Lord Jagannath. Lord loved his devotees so much.

King touched the feet of salabegha, he declared from today onwards the chariot would stop in front of salabegh house every year to get the offering from his hands during rath yatra. The king or gajapati of puri constructed the salabegha house near the Jagannath's temple on the grand road to show the highest regard of lord's great devotee who not only conquered the hearts of the three lords but also the hearts of the million devotees who love Jagannath. He is the devotee who had crossed all the limits of all hazardous examination of lord even, he was ready to sacrifice his life for lords. He is the symbol of unity and integrity. The profound passionate worshipper, lover of the lords, the real devotee who proved the lord's uniformity, indiscrimination in all spheres, the magnanimity of lords, the Jagannath's love, the Jagannath's religion which is the universal one, which is proved by the intense love of the lords, the evidence of the salabegha story which excels all. Jagannath stands for unity, integrity, irrespective of all castes, creeds and religions. He never makes discrimination among all.

He is the highest dignity to be worshipped as the universal lord in true sense. Every year devotees carry his chariot near salabegha house during ratha yatra to get his offering of love and regard, thousands of Muslim devotees carry his chariot with devotion towards salabegha house and gundichha house, which is lord's destination to reach at last ,the devotion, profound love purity of his heart, his heart's contentment to see the lords by touching his feet, hugging him tightly was the earnest desire of salabegha. Jai jagannath. Salabega's father was lalabega. He joined mughal army after the death of his father who was the commander of the Army durung mughal empire. He fought many battles. He killed many soldiers, his enemies. Once he was badly wounded by his enemy's arrow. The wound could not be healed. There was no chance of his survival. His mother advised him to worship Lord Krishna, the Hindu god whom salabega worshiped with devotion. He could be able to see lord krishna in his imaginary vision, he just touched the wound and it cured. At Morning salabega narrated his dream, it was miracle, god's blessing he started recovering from his wound. Salabega's mother insisted him to go for the visit of lord jagannath who saved his life in his miseries. His life is for lords only .salabega gave up all, his kingdom, all property, richness, his community and above all his mother. He left all behind. He started his loneli journy alone .
