Never Give Up!

Never Give Up!

We were returning from the beach and came to a halt, when a bevy of swans which were floating on the sea water, grabbed our attention. We stopped our car and made our way towards the corniche. There were other people strolling too. We stared at several swans and even some flamingos which had migrated from nearby countries. The scene was quiet breath-taking. They were catching fish by putting their beaks in the water. There, my eyes caught a scene.

A very gorgeous swan, after soaring through the sky landed on the water to catch fish. After a few minutes, it started floating farther away from the sea side and away from all the swans, for it thought that deeper water would have more fish. Obviously, it was right. But as it was too far for a naked eye to see, I took out my binoculars for watching it. It was so pretty that I wanted to touch its beautiful and silky wings.

A few seconds elapsed by and I saw that the swan was flapping its wings, trying to fly away. But it was like something was holding its claws to prevent it from flying away. At first, I thought its legs were tangled in a net or some seaweeds. But my binoculars proved me wrong. Some kind of sea beast or creature had grabbed its legs in order to devour it and was pulling it downwards. The swan kept flapping its wings, struggling to fly away from the deadly beast but all in vain. It was a matter of life and death.

A grin spread on my face as I desired to help the swan. The swan kept flapping its wings for half an hour, but it was all in vain, it wasn't as strong as the beast holding it. It soon got weary and fatigued from the constant flapping of wings and gave up on its life. The second, the swan put an end to his struggle for freedom; the sea beast pulled it into the water until it disappeared from my sight. My fear turned into reality. I could see blood on the surface of the water. My heart gave out a cry and I felt so sorry for the little guy.

Not many minutes had flashed away when another graceful swan landed on the same deadly spot. I feared that the swan would embrace the same deadly fate. After almost half an hour, the past repeated itself. The swan began fluttering its wings. The sea beast had grappled the swan around its legs. A woeful look took over my face, as I was certain of its ghastly fate. Like the previous swan, this one kept on waggling its flawlessly alluring wings, endearing to escape its death. More than thirty-six minutes had rolled away, but to my great astonishment, the swan hadn't given up. It was still there, flapping its wings very hardly.

I was excited and worried at the same time for what the consequence will come out. The swan was so determined and persistent that it kept flapping its wings harshly for an hour and didn't give up. It was full of hope and perseverance. Finally, after flapping for more than an hour, the swan legs were free. On being released, it glided as far as possible from the lethal beast. I was over jubilant and the swan too (I think).

I compared both the swans and concluded that the first swan struggled for its life but soon gave up. On the other hand, the second one kept flapping constantly until it was free. It never gave up and got a valuable prize: life.

This story holds a very important lesson that we should never ever give up on our goals even when there is no hope left. We should keep working hard and struggling even in the most tangled situation. To summarize the moral lesson, I can say: "Don't give up hope just yet. It's the last thing to go. When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope."
