The Gag

It was dark. It was late evening then. Perhaps close to 8 or 9 o'clock.

There were 2-3 autorickshaws in the stand.

The drivers were gossiping, holding that day's newspaper in their hand

Topic of discussion varied from onion to inflation to Delhi rape case.

Conviction, counter attack, argument and counter argument.

 

In the meanwhile, a girl came.

Jeans clad, must be in her early twenties.

She had already missed the last local train.

She reserved an autorickshaw and went for her home.

 

And somewhere far away from the hustle bustle of town,

Her seminude corpse was found next day.

And that very newspaper was put in her mouth to prevent her from shouting.

 

Still the headline was clearly visible,

 

It was "Delhi rape convict to be hanged"
