A Story Of Summer

Summer holidays have always been my favourite time to play and create memories with my loved ones with no haste of morning school or evening supper. I always believed it's the best time to enjoy, make fun, learn something new, pursue my hobbies and live those days under the spillproof shadow of my grandparents.

My story of summer dates back to some twenty years ago when I and my brother had gone to spend our summer vacation at our Nani's place in Muzaffarnagar. It was around 2 O'clock in the afternoon. My mom and my Nani had gone to the market to buy some clothes for us and other stuff and we were at home with our Nanu. We both were playing as usual and he was reading the newspaper. Meanwhile, he went to his room to take some rest and slowly dozed off. 

When my Mom and my Nani came back home after probably two hours, what they saw was totally indigestible for them. I and my elder brother were literally bathing in talcum powder which my nanu had bought for us the day before. All their drawing room, sofa, bedsheet, television, dressing table, floor everything had turned white owing to the powder that we had spread everywhere. Not even that, the doors of all the rooms had been interconnected with the white lines we had made on the floor. And guess what, both of us had turned ourselves into a white snowman. And above all, we started laughing on seeing both of them looking at us as if we had been turned into a zombie.

When my Mom came to grab the powder box from me, it was empty. All three of them first stared at us and suddenly started to laugh their hearts out. I still remember that day and a longing smile cheers me up whenever I reminiscence those beautiful summer days.
