They had never seen anything like it. Neither had I, but I had read about it, I had a weak memory of what it looked. Nevertheless, despite my meager knowledge of Greek mythology, I knew that, Only a few feet away from me, walls the three-headed dog guardian of the underworld – Cereberus.

The fiery gleam in his eyes sent shivers down my spine. From shoulders down, it was a normal Rotweiler: the only difference was it was the size of a school bus.

Shoulders up it was so mind-bending it looks like an optical illusion: from where the neck would lead to ahead there was a diversion, as it split into three heads each the size of a lean middle-aged man. Its vicious eyes were staring at me, instigating me, tempting me to pounce at it. Its mouth would be big enough to swallow me in one piece if it weren’t for its fangs- that were the size of our swords!

Many heroes had died in hand to hand combat with it so I had to explore my options. I caught the attention of Jason and Kevinson, the twins who were my only comrades. I put my left hand forward and gracefully pulled my right back, signing for the shoot. The twins seem to understand as three seconds later to arrows glided parallel through the sky. At first, my hope was up, but moments later the arrows deflected off harmlessly like toothpicks.

The dog put its left foot down its eyes concentrated on us, its muscles contracted: it was ready to pounce.

“Run!” Jason screamed and screamed.

Without being told twice: we complied flying away as the bone collected on the floor of the underworld was trampled under our feet. The dog tried to chase us but we had started.

Soon we were at the park, at the entrance to the underworld. I bid goodbye to the twins promising to meet them here again. I sprinted back home within minutes from the start of my playtime. On my way home I rummaged through my pockets for my keys.

“I am home “ I called.

“Back from the park darling. See anything interesting?” My mom asked.

“You would never believe what I saw today”.
