Chapter 12

John reached out to pick up the mobile from the edge of the cot, as he walked by looking at the floor and to his surprise, there was no mud or footprint. John looked at Charles and smiled, he turned towards Jency and said: " take the mobile lock the door and come". He then looked at Charles and said "let's go dude", Charles hesitated, John had no patience to stand there he grabbed Charles by the hand and walked out. Jency kept looking at John and wondered why is he acting this weird and took her phone.

The minute they walked out of the room Charles shouted at John, "why did you bring me out now? What if Jency sees the footprint?". "How can she see it? When you have already gotten rid of it?" Said, John. "Me? What are you saying, John? I did not get rid of it dude, I was just hiding it!"Said Charles. "that means it disappeared on its own, oh no I am worried about Jency now, let's go back to the room," said John.

John and Charles rushed back to the room, they saw Jency locking the door, John said "wait! wait Jency don't lock the door! I have to take something". she placed the key in his hand and walked away. John opened the door and checked in the same place, there was no footprint but before they could celebrate the footprint reappeared. Charles said "something has to be done John come with me", they locked the door and walked towards Sandeep's room and they saw Pavithra walking out, "Pavithra is Sandeep in the room?"Asked Charles, "yes but he is not awake," said Pavithra, both John and Charles entered Sandeep's room; John felt Sandeep's forehead to check if he was feeling better, fortunately, he had no temperature. John shook him gently, Sandeep opened his eyes and looked at John and sat up. "How are you feeling Sandeep?" asked Charles. "I feel better but my goodness what an experience it was" replied Sandeep."Charles and I are going out, you take rest" said John, Sandeep asked "where are you guys going?"." you know what happened now! exclaimed Charles, as he started to describe the events that happened John interrupted and signaled Charles not to tell him anything, Sandeep looked at John and asked: "are you hiding something from me, John?" "Not at all, as suggested by you, Charles and I have planned to go meet someone who can tell if that ghost is still with us". "Why do you wanna leave me and go? I will also join you" said Sandeep; John agreed "but what do we say if our wives ask? They are already upset that we came late last time". " We'll figure something out John. now you tell me, how do we find a person who can help us out with the ghost situation?" asked Charles. "You both decide what to do I'll go freshen up by then," said Sandeep and walked into the washroom. "Why don't we check with someone who works in this resort," said Charles, John said, "no Charles, not a good idea, what if our family finds out about it?" Let's do this, let's first go out and on the way, we can check with some localities What do you think?" asked John, "great let's do that" said Charles. 

 Sandeep got ready and all three left the room to have their breakfast. They looked around kids were playing and their wives were busy chatting. All three finished their breakfast and went sat with their respective wives. "So what plans for today? Where are we going?" Asked Pavithra. "You three decide," said Sandeep, "we have" she replied in excitement, "that's nice so you all get ready we three are heading out and will be back in an hour," said Charles. "What? Going out again?"Fumed all three. "This is not okay John if you three wanna roam around alone why you bring us here?" questioned Jency in anger. "Don't get angry Jency, we just got a call from the bar where we had been to last night, Charles has left behind his debit card there so we will go bring that, by then you all be ready". "Fine carry on but don't be late" ordered Alice. They quickly walked to the parking lot, John looked at Sandeep's car, called a guy who worked in the resort asked him to wash it and they left in Charles car. 

They went a little further and Charles yelled at John to stop the car. "Why dude?"Asked John. "I will tell, you first stop the car," said Charles. John stopped the car and Charles said "look there" both Sandeep and John looked where Charles pointed his finger, "it's Maa Kali temple, there is nothing adventurous here" said Sandeep sarcastically. "Not that! look at what's written there" replied Charles, "it's written they talk to the souls and exorcise.... Oh great I never thought we would find someone this easily" said John. They parked the car and got into the temple. They searched and finally found a small room behind the temple, they entered it, it was a small room and though it was close to 1 pm the room was so dark, there was no sunlight in the room and they saw an old man sitting alone; he gestured them to sit and closed his eyes for a minute, he opened his eyes and looking at Charles he asked "did you finally understand ghosts exist in this world?" All three looked at him in shock, he said: " tell me...why are you here?" Is it to check if the ghost is still with you?" Sandeep said "yes Swamiji we are scared" and explained that horrifying experience to him, John told him about the footprint, Sandeep's eyes popped out of his head in shock when he heard that, Swamiji looked at John, closed his eyes again, called out to him and told him to stay in the room, he wanted the other two to wait outside. They were surprised to hear him call John by his name, John asked his friends to wait out, the minute Sandeep and Charles left the room Swamiji opened his eyes. Looking at John he asked, "why do you feel the Ghost's presence?". "It's because yesterday our car was possessed and I heard someone crying when I was in the washroom and that footprint in the morning scared me quite a bit". "Is this experience new to you or have you felt this kind of experiences before?" Quizzed Swamiji. John recollected he told him about how the water looked like blood for him, his dream in which a ghost was sitting with him in his bike. Swamiji said "the ghost which troubled you in the forest did not follow you"." but the car was possessed,"said John. "A good soul has saved your life from the evil spirit" Swamiji explained. "then what about the footprint?" Asked John, "the good soul which saved you has come all the way with you to make sure you are safe so you need not worry, You are here to enjoy your vacation, go ahead and do it" he gave a lemon in his hand and said "but keep this with you always call me if you have any problems in the future" and shared his no "now you may leave". John walked out the door closed on its own; Swamiji yelled "tell me who are you? I know you are here. If you don't reply, I'll make sure you never leave this place!" he didn't get any response he took kumkum in his hand closed his eyes prayed and threw it in the air, and he heard a loud cry "it's burning please, it's burning". "Tell me who are you? What do you want?" Ordered Swamiji. "Johnnn!!!" cried the voice.
