That was a hectic Monday. I had to finish my GD-WAT-PI, rush back, change from formals to comfys, catch a train at 1:30 PM, travel 180 kms., board the flight and then go to work next morning! I managed to reach the railway station “Just-In-Time” and before i could sit down the train had already begun rustling.

I opened my eyes and then there was a guy, with thick moustache and brown eyes smiling at me. I was shocked. Is this his seat? Is he a creep? How can he stare and then smile at girls just like that? I decided to ignore him. Luckily, I had a window seat, which made the whole business even more easier. Then I see a Hide N Seek packet infront of my eyes. Oh yes I was hungry! Amidst all the hustle and bustle, I had missed my lunch. But my parents, like every other parents, had taught me not to take food from strangers. Moreover, I was travelling alone. I refused.

"It's been 2 hours that you are sleeping. Seems like you are really tired. If I am not wrong, you have definitely missed your lunch. You must be really hungry", he said. Damn! Have I been sleeping for 2 hours? How does he know that i missed my lunch and that I must be hungry? Is he an astrologer? Or are these his daily cheesy-lines? Did i murmur something while i was sleeping and is that how he got to know that I'm hungry?

I ignored him again.

"Where are you travelling to?" he asked.

"Angamaly", I replied hesitantly.

"I'm going there too! Do you work there?"

"No, I work in Hyderabad. I'm going to the airport"

"Hmm! I work in TCS Cochin. I came home for the weekend."

"Oh, I work in TCS too"

I was bored and there was still another 2 hours to reach my station. We both work in TCS, We aren't strangers anymore! I can talk to him now! I got comfortable with him and we started talking about “Engineering, TCS & MBA - An Average Indian's life-stages”. He offered me that purple packet of Hide-N-Seek again, and this time, i grabbed them with a smile!

He asked me if somebody would come to pick me up at the station. I said No. The train halted at a forest-hilly-like place just before reaching the station. (Yes! That bewildered one.) I thought this was the best time to pull my luggage down. Oh yes! Like every other time, I can't reach my luggage. He could not control his smile and helped me unload my luggage. Only then did i realise, I had brought enough luggage to fill two seats that the two of us no longer had a place to sit.

Two hands and one shoulder wasn't enough to carry those plethora of luggage. "Are you sure you can manage? Do you need me to help me with one of this?" he asked. I refused (politely this time!) I almost got out of the station and did not know where to go.

He knew it and that was probably why he kept walking with me. He asked me to follow him. My side bag was sliding down the side shoulder (probably because my shoulder already had one huge backpack). He insisted me to give him one of those bags. I was helpless and gave him one of my girly bags. He took me to the bus stand, enquired with the officers, took me to the aisle where my bus would come and lead me to a vacant seat.

I could only keep smiling at him. It was probably better than saying a Thank you. We did not know if we would meet each other again. We were about to bid adieu and only then did we realise that we do not even know each other's names!

"Sharanya"

"Kamaruddin"

PS: This is a real story. We did not exchange contacts and do not even know surnames to find each other on Facebook. This story is dedicated to Kamaruddin! Thank you for being there for a girl you don’t even know! You are the epitome of everything a man should be :)
