The Ungerminated Seed

If you ask an old person that which one period of their life they enjoyed most or wish to go back, most probably the answer would be childhood. Maybe it is because of the carefree life we live in our childhood. There is no tension of studies, job, payment of loans or any relationship issue and only innocence.

Tanvi, a five years old adorable girl was enjoying the golden years of her life. She loved to ask questions with her family member. Her parents loved her hunger of gaining knowledge and answered her emphatically.

One hot summer afternoon her mother gave her watermelon to keep her hydrated. While savouring the fruit, she ate a seed of the watermelon accidentally. She told her father about it. He told her that the seed will grow up to a watermelon inside her belly. She got panicked and thought to tell her mother. She also told her the same. She thought her parents may be lying her so she went to her grandparents. They also told her the same. At last, she accepted that the seed will grow up to a watermelon. Whole family members were enjoying seeing the innocent child tensed. She could not get sound sleep because of the thought of the seed growing into a watermelon inside her belly kept disturbing her. Next morning, she looked at her belly in the mirror. Seeing no change in her belly, she thought that all of them were fooling her. Her mother saw her looking at the mirror and she confused her by saying that the seed will take some time to grow. Unfortunately, she got stomach pain after a few days. And all her family members started talking that the seed was germinating. This grew her tension more and again she checked her in the mirror but found no change. Time flew and she grew up but the seed never germinated. With the passage of time, she understood that they were fooling her and she decided that someday she will play the same prank with her child too.
