Untamed

She turned around, a peal of laughter escaping her lips. Her jet black hair shone in the sunlight that illuminated the white dotted meadow in which she was running.

She was being chased by a cherubic young girl, in a white frock, who stumbled on her chubby legs to keep up. Just as the young one was about to grasp her flowing dress, it slipped out.

A frustrated exclamation escaped her lips. "Mommy, slow down. I can't keep up!" Her mother turned around, her dark brown eyes twinkling with amusement, "But darling you're almost there!"

But as the gap between them increased, the frustration slowly turned to fear. "Mommy?" She screamed ,"Wait for me." She ran as fast as her tiny legs could carry her but the distance only grew between them.

Exhausted, she fell to her knees ,"Don't leave me and go." She whispered.

Time passed and the little one grew. She sat in the meadow among the pale fragrant white flowers. Her jet black hair falling around her in sheets. She raised her hand as if to wipe a tear that had dried up years ago on her cheek and stared ahead, with dark eyes, leaving no trace that in this very meadow years ago a young girl chased her mother while laughter echoed.
