When I first saw my daughter’s eyes sparkling in her first rain, I remembered the time when I drenched myself in the rain for the first time. It was so good than the tiny showerhead in my bathroom; it was a natural phenomenon that my tiny brain could not comprehend in its greatest reasoning. I saw myself dancing in the  rain like her.

When I saw the naughty boy of the colony steal sweets from his mother and run to his friends, I remembered the time when I got scolded for doing the same.  Those sweets definitely tasted sweeter than normal and I looked forward to doing  that again in my mother’s absence. I saw myself in his mischievous laughter.

When I saw the fruit vendor’s run to him with her arms open, I remembered myself running towards dad when he returned from his six months duty. I saw  myself in her gleaming eyes.

When I saw my husband fuss about the bottle gourd vegetable prepared for dinner, I remembered the time when I angrily sat on the floor refusing to listen to mother for the same. The cross face of not getting something tasty to eat remained the same through ages. I saw myself in his cute stubbornness.

When I saw the 10th STD kid worry for his exams all day long and studying, I  remembered the time I was freaking out for the boards a year before they had begun. I saw myself in his worried attitude.

When I saw our neighbor’s teenage daughter apply makeup for the first time for a party, I remembered the time of my first party. The idea of venturing out something new and fun seemed so fresh. I saw myself in her excitement.

When I saw a group of friends laughing in the café together, I remembered the time of my college days when we bunked lectures to create memories that I  remember distinctly compared to my grades. I saw myself in their carefree spirit.

When I saw a YouTube video of pranks, I remembered the time when pranks were our daily practice. The joy of throwing water balloons at someone, keeping a fart balloon under their chair or just pulling their hair unknowingly was happiness in its purest form. I saw myself in those pranksters' humor.

Many things in my daily life reminded me of the childhood me. I have so many memories to rewind and laugh at the golden phase called childhood.

To the child in me I write, keep looking for yourself in different people you meet.

To the child inside me I write, don’t let life stress you out with its hurdles.

To the child inside me, I write, laugh out loud on the lamest jokes to preserve the moment of happiness.

To the child in me I write, keep trying to learn new things eagerly.

To the child in me I write, don’t be afraid to cry when saddened.

To the child in me I write, keep the innocent and carefree spirit alive forever.

To the child in me I write, never grow up.
