Chandu had seen nothing but poverty since his childhood. His father was a poor laborer who used to spend whatever little he earned, after a day long toiling in the sun, on liquor. He used to beat his wife when she asked him to get rid of his addiction and take care of the family. On most of the days, little Chandu used to go to bed with an empty stomach. Soon the liquor took his father's life. His mother started working as a housemaid to feed her son. She somehow managed to make both ends meet till Chandu grew up.

His maternal uncle helped him get the job of a peon in one of the leading business establishments in Mumbai. The glamorous city gave birth to dreams of becoming rich and successful in young Chandu's mind. His destiny opened a way of realizing his dreams in the form of a lottery ticket. He won the first prize and turned into a wealthy man within a blink of an eye. He bought the shares and became a partner in the business firm where he had been working only as a mere servant. The people whom he used to salute till a few days ago, now started saluting him. Within a few years, his business flourished by leaps and bound and he rose to fame in the business world as Chandanlal Seth.

A decade later, he became a business tycoon and owner of a vast property that was worth millions. Along with his name and fame, his ego also grew as he ascended the steps of success. He started considering himself as the most powerful man on earth. He thought of himself as the supreme who was even stronger than the Almighty. And that thought made him believe that he was capable of writing destinies. He was a self-made man. He has written his fate with his own hands and so he can write other's fate as well.

He had only one daughter, Manju. As he himself was not well-educated man, he wanted his daughter to become a doctor. He bought a seat in one of the best medical colleges for her. Manju was poor in studies and had no interested in learning medicine. But her egoistic father remained adamant on his stand. Manju was forced to obey her father's command. After attending the classes at the medical college, Manju realised that she was not going to make it through her first-semester exam. And after taking her exam, she was sure that she was going to fail miserably. She overheard her father boasting in front of his friends that Manju was going to clear her exams with flying colours. Manju knew the truth very well. How ashamed her father would be once her results are out. The thought gave her chills. She couldn't even think of facing her father's wrath. A day before her result was going to be declared, she committed suicide.

Chandu's world came crashing down when he saw his only daughter's lifeless body. The sight of his only hope of a bright future was hanging by the ceiling fan shattered his ego. He grimly realized that his immense success, money, and firms were worthless as he had lost the one that was priceless to him. Nothing could bring his daughter back. And that thought made him realize what his mistake was. He acknowledged that he was neither the supreme power nor he was a writer of destiny. He was a mere human being - meek and powerless before the Almighty who possessed the power to write a man's destiny.
