“Are you still in bed?” I heard my mother’s voice on the answering machine. I opened my eyes slowly to look at the ceiling. It was a Sunday morning but I had to catch a flight to Canada at 2 pm. Just when I came out of my room I looked at the wall clock and realized I was late. I rushed to the bus stop. “Strike!” I exclaimed when a passerby told me that there is a strike of bus union in Ghaziabad. I decided to hire a cab to the airport but couldn’t find any. I panicked. I can’t believe it is happening to me. “This must be a bad dream” I thought when suddenly I saw a cab coming my way.

Finally when I crossed the Ghaziabad border I drove off to sleep because now I was content that I’ll catch my flight. But all my dreams of going to Canada shattered with the tire puncture. I felt so miserable. I left the taxi at Vaishali metro station and decided to take a metro. It was so crowded. There was a race for the seats in the metro and I was lucky to secure a position. I thought maybe now I can be relaxed but wait here comes another problem. A college girl came to me and gave me a lecture on ladies rights. Yes, I was sitting on the ladies seat.

I collected my belongings and stood at a corner. I was so pissed off. Negative thoughts surrounded me. At the Yamuna bank station, hundreds of people burst into the metro but I felt so alone. I thought about my life. This Canada job offer was the only good thing that has happened to me in the whole of my 22 years of life. And now I wasn’t even sure whether I’ll be able to bring the change I had wished for all these years.

“Excuse me! Can you please pass that bag?” a sweet voice said. I turned around to look at her. Her beautiful grey eyes met mine. Brown hairs tied in a pony tail, red top tucked in blue denims and black canvas shoes. I was stunned. “So simple and yet so attractive” I wondered. I passed her bag. She was struggling with her 3 bags so I helped her out.”Thanks” she said with a smile. I smiled back. She looked like a photographer as she was carrying a DSLR and was clicking pictures all around.

I almost forgot about my flight I changed my metro and boarded the airport metro. It was not that crowded and this time I made sure I was not sitting on a ladies seat. The same girl sat beside me. I couldn’t get my eyes off her. Suddenly she stood up and offered her seat to an old man. This made me like her more. I offered my seat to her. As she sat she looked at me. Her sparkling eyes gestured a thank you. I smiled and asked for water. She handed me her water bottle. I wanted to talk to her. I wanted to know more about her life. But just then we reached the airport. We parted our ways but I was happy. Sometimes some things make us happy for no reason. I was at the luggage check counter when I realized that I forgot to return her water bottle. I kept it as a memory. She was like the moonlight in the dark night of my life.
