The Tree

Once upon a time there was a tree in a kingdom which bore almost all the fruits. Every month a new fruit grows. Once a Princess was born to the kingdom, but before she was born her mother grew ill so she ate a fruit from the tree which gave eternal healing. The Princess born to the kingdom was named Lucy. She was very beautiful and had a melodious voice. One day, suddenly the tree stopped bearing fruits. The people of the kingdom was very upset and most of them grew ill. The next month the leaves of the tree withered. When this happened some people died and the Princess was lost.

The King and the Queen was very worried and sad. They searched for the Princess everywhere but she could not be found anywhere. Almost five years has passed but the Princess was not in sight. One day, a Prince came to the kingdom in search of the Princess. The King said to the Prince, “If you can find my daughter you can marry her.” The Prince set out immediately to search for Princess Lucy. After months and days of search, one day when he was sitting under a tree he noticed that it was the only tree that did not have leaves. Then he heard someone singing so sweetly and melodiously from a distance.

He followed the voice and it led him deep into the woods. There he saw a beautiful girl sitting on a huge rock. She stopped singing and said to herself,”when will father find me? I miss him.”Then he went towards her and said,” Please come with me, I will take you to your father.”

Hearing this she said,”I can’t. There a witch in the tower, she had put a spell on me and I am trapped here. And if anyone take me to my father he or she will die and the magical tree will vanish.” Then the Prince said,”What will I do to save you and the tree?” she said,” You’ll have to kill the witch.”

So the Prince went to the witch and fought bravely and defeated her. He took the Princess Lucy to her father and saved her and the kingdom and also the magical tree from the witch. The leaves and fruits of the tree grew back and the Prince and the Princess got married and lived happily ever after.
