Kim And Mr. Green

Long ago there was a young orphan boy in the far away village of Rosia. His name was Kim and he worked as the village delivery boy, parcelling local things of villagers in and out of the village. He used to travel to distant places to the relatives and friends of the villagers to give away letters and gifts. Although he wasn’t making much money but used to get a lot of blessings from the villagers and this made him very happy and satisfied.

One day the oldest man in the village asked Kim give a hand knitted blanket for winters to his granddaughter who lived in the village on the other side of the forest. Kim happily agreed and next day early morning he set off. It was the first time he was walking through the forest. By lunch time he had reached the middle of the forest. He felt tired and decided to rest under a big tree.

As he was about to sleep he heard a voice, “Hello Kim, are you hungry?”. Shocked Kim woke up and looked around but could not see anything. He again heard the same voice, “Would you like some fruits?” this time he turned around and saw a big tree blinking his green eyes and having a huge grin on his mouth. Kim was afraid and started to run. But the tree called out to him again and told him he was Kim’s friend. Although still scared he decided to stop.

The tree said, “I’m Mr. Green, the oldest tree of this forest. I can oversee your village from here and see you toiling for the villagers every day. I’m really impressed.” This made Kim very happy and he became friends with Mr. Green who helped him cross the village by throwing him across with his branches.

Sometime later the villagers decided to cut the huge part of village to make some buildings. Kim ran to Mr. Green and asked him to hide away. But Mr. Green told him he was like a father to the other trees and could not abandon them. So they decided to talk to the villagers. All the villagers were also shocked to see Mr. Green.

The villagers argued that they need some more buildings. So Kim came up with a unique solution. With the help of Mr. Green he made the trees extend their branches and created a canopy under which there was large empty space. So now villagers had the natural and smartest buildings with walls of tree trunks and ceiling of tree branches and leaves. Since then man and trees lived happily in the far away village of Rosia.
