A Butterfly

The whole world stopped its breath when she started filling colour in the sketch of a butterfly. It was 31st December 2019. She was a 60 years old spiritualist as well as a fortune teller. It was a custom that on 31st December she was interviewed live and was asked about the future of New Year. She used to predict it every year at her meditation room in her residence. Her style was unique. She did it by sketching a butterfly on any painting surface – paper, canvas, wood or a garment. The colour she filled in the insect was an indication of how the New Year overall would be – a prosperous one or a scary one. 

She was blind and since her teenage she had begun foretelling the future. Earlier it was limited to some known people but technology advancement and 100% accuracy of her foresight had made her a renowned prophet. She had her meditation room and silently while forecasting someone’s tomorrow she used to sketch a butterfly, then soaked her paintbrush in colour and sometimes mixed many hues on the artist palette and then filled the picture. 

All wished she would paint orange or multi-coloured butterflies. She was several times tasted. Once a lazy boy was brought in front of her and the colour she filled in the insect was orange which delivered a message that the boy needed to be more stimulated, enthusiastic and happy. The family posted it on twitter and she became famous. In one of the live shows, a comedian asked his future and she painted for him a brown colour butterfly. The person was speechless as the lady was suggesting he was emotionally depressed and drained. He accepted that after the death of her daughter he was not concentrating on the creation of new content and was repeating his old presentations. 

Politicians, famous film personalities, ultra-rich classes all were her clients. She was a visually impaired lady and was unbiased in her predictions. One evening a royal person visited her and was totally in depression. A family feud had created many enemies and he was uncertain of his life as well as his enthronement. When she was asked about his future she chose blue colour to paint his butterfly. It confirmed that due to Divine intervention or the blessings of higher power his life’s obstacles would be cleared soon. He was so relaxed and donated huge amount to her charity organisation when he overcame all the hurdles and was crowned as a king again.

All eyes were glued to the television screen when she started filling colour on the butterfly and painted it black. People were shocked and panic-stricken because she was predicting sickness, frightful time, and grief. Black butterfly was an omen of death. The world understood the year 2020 would witness sadness, mourning and remorse. The world was divided into two groups on that prediction. Many rejected it and the others were scared tremendously. All prayed at least this time God must prove her wrong. Surprisingly this was her last prophecy as due to unsound health she died after a week.

The year was remarkably cursed. A pandemic occurred and millions of people died due to disease, many due to hunger as the entire world was locked for two to three months. Time was so inauspicious that wedding ceremonies, religious functions, social gatherings were all forbidden and social distancing was maintained as a safety measure. Within a country state borders were sealed, human became a carrier of disease and infected own family members. In an atmosphere of disbelief, people were distrusting each other. Unemployment, closure of business, and shortage of medical facilities due to multiplication of patients day by day created chaos in administration. She was again in news due to her accurate predictions and her statue was erected at the centre of the city to pay tribute to her deep knowledge of the unseen future.
