Day 4 - Making Memories...

Day 4 - Making Memories...

Dear Diary,

Each day of lockdown is getting better and better. It is opening numerous avenues to explore and experience things that are not usually possible to do. I agree the flip side of lockdown is to remain stationary in the house, but nothing stops you to make it entertaining and interesting. Since yesterday, I could indulge in the number of activities that I wouldn’t even imagine doing during normal and unrestricted days of my life.

After publishing the 3rd day’s work, last night instead of going to bed, I decided to watch a web series on Netflix. Usually, I indulge into such entertaining activities only during my commuting hours. Whenever I am on my way to work. But like such unprecedented situation we have in our hands at present, I couldn’t stop myself from binge-watching and ended up not sleeping at all. I could literally see the night turn into a day. In my life, I rarely had such an opportunity to witness something like this. Not at least lying on my bed and watching the sunrise. Though this is something I wouldn’t advise people to follow quite often it is a must experience for one to have at least once in her/his lifetime.

After the sleepless night, not feeling like sleeping anymore, I thought to surprise my wife and son by making them breakfast. I am not much of a cook though but fairly know to cook a few things. I chose to make, a bachelor’s boon and a hosteler’s blessing – Maggie. Yes, that is what I made for them but with a little twist. I upgraded the version by adding some cheese, veggies, and jalapeno in the end. Well, what a sight it was to see your loved ones enjoy especially when you are the reason. A certain thing I would miss to identify at ordinary times.

We didn’t stop there. I asked if they wanted to watch a movie and we watched a comedy flick on YouTube. Thanks to screen share or screen mirror technology, you can put up the content from your device to TV.

I think people who spent their childhood in the 90s would remember this movie – Andaz Apna Apna. What a flick. In the beginning, my son who of course was oblivious to the movie and genre made faces to criticize my choice. I knew I just had to wait for the opening credits to pass for the magic to begin. Thereafter, I could only hear his laughter courtesy plenty of funny scenes, especially between Aamir and Salman, the two protagonists of the movie. And of course the epic fight scene between Salman Khan and Shakti Kapoor in the end. That one still gives me fits of laughter. It never grows old, no matter how many times you have watched that movie. My son looked happy and the scenes drove him crazy and he craved watching it all over again after the movie ended. I told him maybe some other time. Looking at the lockdown I am sure we will have many opportunities.

Even my ability to plan better would not produce such a fruitful result. After all, we work and what we want in return, we want to see our family happy. And what makes them happy? The moments like this. So, in short, I dedicate the 4th day towards making memories with my family member and end with a few lines from a very famous Hindi movie that fits into this context. Believe you me it's very deep and here it goes -

“Har ghadi badal rahi hai roop zindagi,

Chaon hai kabhi kabhi hai dhoop zindagi,

Har pal yahan jee bhar jeeyo,

Jo hai samah, KAL HO NA HO.”

I hope that I got it right. Alright, See Ya.
