Dear Diary,

I had an incredible insight into what fear can make us believe and do today.

As my granny has just passed away, few people have spoken about a certain spirit wandering in the house till she is totally ready to leave us and poor mother of mine is so paranoid that she is unable to function normally.

Today as the prayers were going on, of all animals a big fat monkey decided to pay us a visit. As the door near the kitchen was open she entered through that very silently. When we heard some slight noises in the kitchen my mother got nervous. We assumed that it was the wind to be on the safer side.

Finally, after some time, we mustered some courage and we went towards the noise and were shocked to see the monkey feasting on the green gram sprouts that we had left for germination on the black kitchen counter. She looked happy as she ate half each of two bananas and then she quietly walked away.

My mother was feeling very happy too. It is a belief that the spirit is happy if you see any animal eating during the first few days of someone passing away. I was happy to see the happiness on my mother's face after all these days and all's well that ends well right?

I am grateful to the monkey to bring some happiness back into our lives today.

Do I still think blind beliefs are a waste of time ??? What's your take on this......
