Helping Others Is The Best

Once upon a time, there lived a poor family. They were a family of three – mother, father and a young son. They did not have a regular source of income and used to do whatever job they could find. Since they were poor, the son had to go to school every day with a torn bag, same set of uniform which had become dirty and broken slippers. The other students used to tease and make fun of him for his same cloths every day and torn bag. But, the boy never cared about them and just ignored them so that he could focus on his studies.

One day, he had to go to school empty stomach as there was nothing to eat at home. His parents had also left early in the morning in search of some work. As usual the students teased and mocked him. However, he ignored them and sat on his place in the classroom. The teacher entered the class and started her lecture. As periods passed by, his hunger increased. But he did not want to go out in search of food and miss his classes. So, he sat through all the periods had to starve the whole time.

When he returned home from school, his parents had not returned yet. Hence, there was nothing to eat. So, he went out looking for some food. As he roamed around, he saw a sad old man in a fruit orchard. He approached him and asked why he was worried. The old man said that all the apples in the orchard are ripe, but he is too weak to climb the trees and take down the apples. The young boy offered to climb the trees and get all the apples. Within sometime, he brought down all the ripe and juicy apples. The old man was very happy with this and gave a few apples to the boy as a token of appreciation.

The boy took the apples and went around looking for a place to sit and eat the apples. As he went near a waterfall, he saw a man who was stuck at the base of waterfall and unable to come out. The boy was a good swimmer. He went across and helped the man to come to the bank of the lake. The man looked hungry as he was stuck there for couple of days. The boy, even though he was very hungry, shared his apples with the man. After finishing the apples, as the man was not able to walk, the boy offered to help the man walk to his place. It took sometime for them to reach his house which was on the other side of the forest.

After dropping the man, the boy was rushing back to his home as it was getting dark. However, he lost his way in the forest. As he was trying to find out his way, he saw a man stuck under a fallen tree. He tried his best and helped the man to come out. Even though he was getting late, he did not even thought for a second to leave the man under the tree. When the man was free, he was very thankful to the boy. He told him that he is king of a tribe which lives inside the caves in the forest. He takes him to his cave and knowing that the boy comes from a very poor family, he gives him a bag full of gold and precious stones like diamonds, rubies, emeralds, pearls, etc. The boy is very happy and returns back home.

When he reaches home, he finds that his parents are very anxiously waiting for him. He narrates the whole incident to them and shows them the bag full of gold and precious stones. His parents are shocked as well as happy to see so much of wealth. After this they had a happy life and did not suffer on a daily basis for lack of money.

That’s why we always say that helping others is the best thing to do.
