Be Happy With What You Have

Mariah Carey was a stingy woman who was always counting money and keeping in the locker. She never spent anything on herself.

One day she saw a young man who was distributing sweets and some packets full of gifts to the poor. She went near him and asked why was he wasting money. Instead, he could keep it for his future. He replied saying, "We are a family of four, my father got a job in the nuclear industry, my mother was asked not to join it as it would be harmful to us. However, he was very stingy and wanted to earn more and more money. He earned millions of dollars but in return, we all are affected by the harmful chemicals around the area.

We all are cancer patients and can die anytime, all our veins are affected. It may start bursting out anytime and our doctor told us that if we felt uneasy we should lie down and our body would probably collapse within an hour. My mother always used to warn my father, "This money making passion will take you tò death one day."

Mariah enquired, "Where is your mom"?

He replied, "I am the only one left in my family. I am distributing one thousand dollars daily so that this charity may help their souls rest in peace". He gave a letter to her, held her hand tightly and just gave an indication that he wanted to lie down. She supported him and within thirty minutes he was dead. She observed that each and every vein had burst and felt the pain of the young man.

She cried and started reading the letter which had details of their bank accounts. "To whomsoever, it may concern please take these blank cheques daily and distribute among the needy," it said.

For the first time in her life, she had seen death so closely. She was very upset and wondered why did she come and met this young man. What the Almighty's will was behind this.

She started distributing money daily and also asking people about their needs and fulfilling it. She opened a trust and helped many people. She used the money in a very organized manner. Daily many people gave blessings to her.

It was Thanksgiving Day, so she gave many gifts to the members of the Trust and others who were backend support for her. That day she saw a dream. The young man with his family thanked her and said, "We are in peace Mariah, Happy Thanks Giving".

She woke up and thanked God, I should be thankful to you O Almighty for choosing me for this work.
