Thanatophobia: The fear of death. That's how it is technically described. Classifying a phobia makes it look like only a few of us fear it. But if you look at it in a deeper manner, aren't all of us somewhere scared of the inevitable?

We fear that one day we won't exist and things will continue normally without us.

We don't want to mull over it and hence go on with our lives.

We optimistically plan for the future without ever thinking whether we will exist to cherish it. We take it for granted that we will live to enjoy our dreams.

Even a person contemplating death, suddenly changes their mind in the last minute, because somewhere deep down they don't want to let go. They only end up hurting themselves to an extent which won't kill them, that's because somewhere they too fear death like the others.

They're tired with life, but don't really have the guts to face death.

We cling to life, for life is what gives us a purpose to live until the inevitable happens.

We know that it's going to happen to every one of us, but till then we just want to keep it at the back burner and live as if nothing wrong is ever going to happen.
