Tear Of My Mom

I have seen many times my mother crying due to the pain that I could not even imagine. Pain due to the taunts of the so-called family members. Because she stood against the normal society norms that a girl is born to be married some day and engaged in the household chores and she is not meant to get education.
Twenty years ago, when my mother said to all the family members “Priya will study in a good private school no matter what and one day you all will see her to the heights of success”, they laughed. It was a step full of courage and that too when the salary of my father was not enough to serve the family. But my parents somehow managed. My mom did not want me to suffer the way she suffered due to the lack of education. So, she always used to explain me “Education is very important.
If you want to get respect in the society, education will help you get that. And for a lady, education is the first step towards independent life”. At that time, I could not understand what she meant. But I studied just to make her happy. She is the world to me. If she is happy, I feel, I have pleased the God. Today, I am well qualified and still learning new things daily. She is the one who keeps inspiring me every day. Her tears make me strong and creates the fire to work with more conviction. Whatever I am today is just because of my mom who stood by me when I could not take a stand for myself. Now my mom still drops a tear sometimes, out of happiness.
