Saving Innocence

There was a little ragpicker named ‘Bhulya’ living on the streets of Varanasi. He never knew his original name as he was an orphan child. His only hope of some income to dehydrate the fire of his stomach was just abandoned drinking water bottles lying on Railway Platforms. He possessed a gentle heart behind his obnoxious face, when he used to work it seemed he had wings to win the race of life. Like other children, He also dreamt of going to school but didn’t manage to save much money to offer to school. He saved fifty rupees. But he had not any plan to spend it on anything which can’t fulfil his starvation.

He used to sleep in trains inside marshalling yard in winter as it was the only shelter he can procure without spending any money on it.

It was an antagonistic cold morning of winter, Bhulya was about to start his busy day after having stale-bread, he found in bin last night. He settled his money in an empty matchbox and hid it below to a rail line so that no one can notice it to give him an economical shock after a super fast train run. He noticed a white ‘Parhia’ breed injured puppy lying on a railway track. His front leg was heavily bleeding and he was crying in pain. It was an awful condition for that little heart. He ran to him, held him in his hands and gave his all efforts to stop bleeding but failed. He did not understand, what should he do? He started running towards a veterinary hospital situated next to Varanasi Railway Station.

Doctor Please save his life, He is in extreme pain said Bhulya.

Vet : Where have you got him?

Bhulya: At Railway Track and please don’t waste time on this foolish interrogation.

Vet : Okay, Okay Little guy, let me examine him. Keep him on the examination table.

Bhulya was very curious what is he going to do to him? But he knew that he was professional and can give him required treatment, He put him on the table and ran away speedily.

The Veterinary doctor was shocked and asked him to stay but he was least interested in any type of conversation. After an hour, He came something hidden in the cage of his fist. He offered his all savings to veterinary to save puppy’s life. Doctor understood the situation and his heart melted for his innocence. Bhulya refused to take his money back and insisted vet to keep it.

Puppy’s surgery was done and he had lost his paw but did well and his wound recovered in few months.

Bhulya and Tommy are still living together. Whenever he comes late to his so-called home, he licks him until his face gets all wet.
