In Between

Soil of death lies like a blanket in the grey sun

The air carries a sweet scent of destruction

It held pain, tears and blood of the innocent,

Of the victorious defeat, in a battle to achieve peace

For harmony and victory the soldiers think, they fight

But no one realises that all it does is kill and destroy

The declaration of battle is so reckless and impulsive

Why don’t they understand that war is not for peace?

Which side is right? Which side is wrong?

None of this matters anymore,

The land on both sides is bathed in blood

Lives are lost and families break apart

A battle of the high and mighty

Fought by two sides, neither wrong nor right

Fought for what they believed in

And tragically got caught in between
