A Letter To My Brother
A Letter To My Brother
Her little innocent heart
Wrote to the post office
To deliver greetings to heaven
A place perversely amiss
Postman uncle,
I don’t know of his whereabouts
But all I’ve heard is
He’s there, up above the clouds.
When you reach the home
Of this cruel brother
Ask him why has he flown away
Like a nomadic feather.
What kept him busy
At the pious Rakhi ceremony
Why did he not turn up
To protect me from agony
Where has he been lost
For the past two years
Without caring a bit
About my innumerable tears.
Ask him whom would he
Send for me to fight
Ending up in defeat
Just to have a cheerful sight.
Tell him I’m incomplete
Without my cartoon
As much as the stars are
On the new moon
Dear Brother
Come to cover me like a shroud
Or else I’ll find a way to come to you
There, up above the cloud.
