Remembrance

Sitting on a beach
waves struggling to reach
rough golden sand in hand
slipping through gaping hole
counting.

Staring at stars
that ONE
bright, little, shiny and twinkling
responding
I smile.

Suddenly waves surge
pondering over the futility of competition
all but one, return to merge
lunging forward,
that lone wave kisses my feet
I feel HIS presence.
Remembrance
Only remembrance.
