Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
The large, decorated tree lies in the hall
Where Christmas Spirit is the highest of all
Colorfully wrapped presents surround it
Carefully chosen for each other with love I’m sure
The delicious aroma of Christmas dinner spreads through the air
As the warmth wafts from the fireplace reaching to all of us
The carols can be heard faintly from the church across the street
It was the perfect Christmas scene
And I stand amongst all of it, enjoying myself
But then I look out of the window catching the sight of a homeless man
He stands in the cold winter breeze,
Wearing tattered clothes and a bleak look on his face
And I simply couldn’t stop thinking about the man’s misery
With no one to spend time with, no one to get presents from on Christmas day
And so with a smile on my face, picking up a present and slice of cake
I walked out into the chilly wind and smiled at him brightly
Giving him the food and gifts was the happiest and most content I’ve ever felt
And the smile he returned was simply as affectionate and grateful too
