The Lone Fighter

Bruised in the backbone,

Soul is wounded,

I whimper groaning,

Wailing, dawdling from earth to sky,

But I am not defeated.

 

Frailty sparkles through the eyes,

Arms are shaky,

Quiver breaks apart,

Evanescing, faded aspirations,

But I am struggling, and will

continue to do so.

 

O masters of time!

I am pausing not to

Ease my breath,

But to overcome my exhaustion

And stitch my sores.

 

I will be back!

I will be back again,

To fight this battle,

This battle alone.
