Protect me from Internal Invasions

Hail army men

For saving the country

Day in and day out

From enemy’s invasion

Protecting the borders

Across all seasons

Irrespective of the

Temperatures around.

But in the landscape

I live in while I go to

Sleep, I know my

Country is safe

In your hands

Army men but

It is becoming difficult to believe

If I am safe.

I travel from the airport

To home in the midnight

After completing my office duty

Someone pounces on me

Not sure whom to trust

Whom not to trust

Can you protect me

From these internal invasions

I write a report

Some feel that is

Not right, has a view

Which I respect

But I am targeted

For the views expressed

Can you protect me

From these internal invasions

I go to deliver a lecture

Some students

Haunt and tear me

Even before I utter

A word for or against

For they believe

I am not the cadre

To be respected

Can you protect me

From these internal invasions

I do my job

As designed by the organisation

I come out

Someone from the company

Puts my head to rest

With an Iron rod

At my back

Can you protect me

From these internal invasions

Suddenly a mob arrives

Cutting out people

Saying you are not

From our community

You don’t have the right to live

Can you protect me

From these internal invasions

My list goes on

A page or two

May not be sufficient

To express my anguish

I fear, while we are equipping

With all modern weapons

We are forgetting equipping

Individual with moral and fear

If not we would not have seen

Body butchered into hundreds

Of pieces, packed in a suit case

Either near the rail tracks

Or the bush near by

Protect me from these internal invasions
