Time Running Out

Time Running Out

I'm tired of living in

The routineness of it all

Gets under my skin

Cooking meals

Not really good

Running the washing

Machine, with its

Irritating sound, more so

'Cos that's not the end

Of the daily chores

Beds have to be made

Clothes have to be ironed

Dishes have to be washed

Then shopping for groceries,

The list never-ending.

I'm tired of being

Stranded alone like

A lighthouse beckoning

Shipwrecked souls

My light is dimming

Patience is wearing thin

No more can pretend

My role is just to fix

Broken relationships

How mistaken I was

Some relationships

Stand the test of time

Temporary outages that

Bounce back like a ball

Hit on squash court walls

I am tired of being kept

On stand by mode

Like software professionals

Are kept on the benches

Twiddling their thumbs

Held on a short leash

Cannot ever leave

I want to distance myself

From of all "moho maya"

Eject quickly the placenta

Attached to my womb

For they have all grown

Done with my many roles

I want my time 'alone'

My time is running out
