My Deepest Fear

Being dependent on one for happiness is ludicrous,

Yet I choose to believe,

That in friendship and love,

Not everyone is ambitious.

I sacrifice everything for them,

Love and time automatically,

Though occasionally returned,

Are spent on them lavishly.

And it's after sometime I realize,

How much I am giving,

Yet not once,

Am I getting.

So one day I decide to tell them,

Yet they choose not to believe

In a doubt that has been lurking.

Instead, they choose to leave.

Their abandonment acts as a catalyst,

For my spirit to deplore and groan,

And my once happy heart,

Turns as cold and hard as stone.

So my deepest fear as you know now,

Is to be left alone and isolated.

And though it's excruciatingly arduous,

To start anew I am obligated...
