Romance Tragedy Others

We were once two halves of nothingness, who became a whole together.

You had the brains, charm, and beauty,

Whilst I had the vision, determination, and heart.

Pulling in the same direction, much stronger than apart.

Before the eyes of God, we made our vows to keep.

Through the years of trials, we built a house and hills of money,

We held each other up, scaffolded to each other’s dreams,

But like a Bollywood romance, life can’t be as good as it seems.

The kids we wanted, we couldn’t have, the doctor told us so:

”I’m sorry but your eggs are bad, and your sperm counts much too low.”

Devastated, we became addicts to work, the years came and went.

And try, try, try, the IVF we did, without reward for the money we’d spent.

Between us, cracks began to show, we knew, but let them spread,

Silence became our discourse, we couldn’t share the pain.

Our rainbows of love and life turned grey, and trickled down the drain.
