The Mask

The Mask

A bit scared,

Little bit disturbed,

Every noise makes her extra alert.

The rustle of the breeze,

The sound of the waves,

A knock at the door,

Night is more ferocious.

She is crawling around in fear,

Like the ants crawling around the anthill

After it's washed away in rain.

The pain is prominently displayed

Through the gateway of her eyes,

She is an inferno,

A devastating storm.

A kind of helplessness,

A feeling of insecurity,

And she is scared,

Scared of her identity,

Scared of her beauty,

She is terrified of her body

Though her every bit counts.

Her heart is filled up with billion dollar love,

Like an advanced software

Her mind is designed to be multitasking

Being a daughter, wife, a mother, sister,

And a thousand roles.

She is the source of energy,

The powerhouse of positivity,

The epitome of love and sacrifice.

But, she has forgotten her identity,

She is fear trapped,

Scary nights become more scary,

The daylight makes her worried.

She is afraid of her own shadow,

Unconvinced to unveil her face,

All she wants is a mask.

The mask of security,

The mask of fearlessness, ease

And comfort.

Behind the mask, she wanna laugh,

Breath, smile, giggle, speak,

Ventilate her feelings,

She wants to live her life behind the mask.
