As Long As It Smiles
As Long As It Smiles
Out of my head,
on the corner of my eyes,
my childhood secrets come alive.
Bare feet, tumbling at every step.
mouth wide open
tattered vision, looking straight at the sun.
pajamas brushing the floor,
and fear of death
while I was learning to spell my name.
I am on my own,
though a chocolate bar in my hand.
sitting on a swing under a tree.
Then somebody that I trusted,
changed the sky over my head.
While I was busy stargazing.
I keep going out for every role,
being possessed by every person
that is now gone along with their words.
Giving up a day on another,
trying on different smiles every day.
“I’ll see you again”, my nomadic age.
