She carried full term 

Swollen belly causing

Immense discomfort 

Her water bag burst

Spilling all over the land

Mother angered at 

Being treated with 

Such callousness

In the throes of pain

Beaten incessantly by rain

Her placenta spewed water

Bursting dams and bridges

Breaching embankments

Flooding low lying villages

Payback time for sins 

Committed for

Such callousness

Overtaken by rage

Brahmaputra river in spate

Couldn't be contained 

Humans had defecated

Into her sacred womb

Had thrown garbage 

She never objected

Till her term ended

Between her and rain

Played the blame game

Who was the perpetrator 

In this rampage

Wiping out existence

Rains stood mute 

With Mother couldn't argue

Accepted being callous.
