Distractions
Distractions
Looking ahead I saw a path to my destination,
A path that followed mountains and mines
Trapping me in difficult situations.
It led me towards the sea of enticing sirens,
Into a chase for power and riches
And soon I settled on the pleasures of islands.
It bore me on the rocky road of failures,
And raised the desire to surrender,
In the maze of hopeless chambers.
It carried me into the promise of tomorrow,
And took me back to the regrets of yesterday,
Leaving me in a pit full of sorrow.
I believed in the infinity of time,
But it let me down too.
It allowed my journey to complete before the finish line.
Looking back at the path to my destination,
I see now those little distractions,
That lured me into their traps of destruction.
