Companions In The Moonlight

A gentle breeze rustled the leaves

As you struck a chord with my heart

When you suddenly spoke, in a whisper,

"It's time for me to depart."

Seeing you go, the boat of my heart

Drowned in the dark ocean's core

Turn back O! My dearest companion

And moor my heart to the shore

Turn back and look at me!

I wanted you to honor my eyes with a glimpse

But you unaffected, walked away

I saw my desire burning in flames

The ashes in front of me, flying

A deep fire of agony and gloom in air

and my wish silently dying

The flowers lost their fragrance

The faint stars just lost their sky

When without a murmur,you turned back

And my eyes met your eyes

My heart leapt into ecstasy

The river of joy overflowing

And in the branches of the shiuli tree

I saw a firefly glowing

As you stood on the path, on your moonlit face,

Broke a tender smile

You raised your hand in farewell to me

And my time stopped there for a while

A painful wave rose in my soul

As I bade you a silent goodbye

And in the moonlight, I stood still, watching you go,

Until the path merged with the sky...
