Facebook Smiles (Prose Poetry)
Don't get mislead by pictures of the 'Happy Family' posted of three generations on Facebook status. It's all a hogwash! Behind those smiling faces are bottled up emotions, which occasionally surfaces, with volcanic eruptions. Sibling jealousies so evident.
You praise one, the other takes offense. You snitch about one to the other, they come quickly to their defence. But..and a big BUT...when it comes to criticizing parents, two join hands, and their conversation never ends.
They so enjoy pointing out the 'wrongs' done, choosing to forget the 'rights' extended, accepting it as a normal part of parenting. And then question .. 'but who asked you to always say YES, indulge us with out of turn expensive presents. Ignoring the fact they are what they are today, for the sacrifices we made.
I call that family cobweb politics grows and entangles you and the rest. Parents are parents, never retaliate, children grown up think they know best. The cycle will repeat when they reach old age
