The Protest Against Loneliness

My earphones came apart yesterday 

Refusing to entwine into a single wire..

My rainbow socks now refuse an united stay 

So do my shoe laces and my motorbike tyres..

My phone changed the security pattern by itself

It’s no more a fancy star - it’s a plain, single dot..

The keys on my laptop have begun to drift apart

And my new shopping limit - only 1 item per cart..

My favourite fountain pen does not accept its cap

Asia and Europe have gotten separated in my map..

The buttons in my formal shirts simply snap

And my pant zippers embarrassingly leave a gap.. 

All my ceiling fans rotate now with a single blade 

My pillow and blanket lie at opposite poles like a bed unmade..

My music playlists have become a one-song charade

My alarm doesn't allow 'snooze' anymore - it's only a single, loud tirade.. 

My material world seems to be in a strong protest

Demanding me to invite in a new guest.. 

I understand it is my loneliness that they detest

But doesn't my healing heart need some more rest?
