Dream School

A three-year old’s dream school



One day my mom told me,

That I was now a big girl,

That I would soon go to a new place,

A place like my home.

A new place! A new home! I asked in daze,

My home and still be, away from home,

Which is this place I really want to know…

Is it like naani’s house, where I hear tales all day long,

Is it like our nearby park, where I swing and sway and dance,

Is it like our garden, lush and green, where my friends are little worms and bees,

Is it like our neighbor’s yard, where I find treasures in the sand,

Is it like our terrace big and wide where I talk to stars, through the night,

And mumma! Finally

Is it like your lap where I feel safe and warm,

Oh! Yes, said mumma.

Its more than this,

It’s a world full of wonder and of thrill,

Here you will not just hear stories, my dear,

But you will make new ones of places, far and near,

My princess, here you will do lots of things,

Like run and jump, and dance and swing,

You will make lots of friends,

Some from books,

And some elsewhere,

Here you will find treasures of knowledge,

From the depth of the oceans to the highest peaks,

And my dear, you will find someone beautiful,

Someone who would love you and guard you just like Mumma,

But Mumma still why should I go.

What will I get when I go there?

This place my dear, is a special one, you know,

Here you will grow pretty and beautiful wings of your own,

Wings of determination, knowledge and values,

fueled with real learning, intelligence and life skills,

You will conquer the world with the best of knowledge and skills,

And with a heart that cares for the planet and every living being on it.

You will grow to a be a person I am proud to call my own

But still my darling,

You will be my little girl wherever you go,

Ma! let’s go to this place,

I don’t want to be late,

I hope there is such a place,

for every child on this earth.

And what did you say this place is called,

It’s called a School, my dear,

Not just any school, Mumma,

It’s my DREAM SCHOOL, you know.
